We returned to Wandsworth Arts Fringe with Vital Mix, a group exhibition of fifteen ActionSpace artists

Vital Mix presented a site-specific installation, showcasing the contemporary artwork of Linda Bell, Pardip Kapil, Claudia Williams, Robin Smith, Chandrakant Patel, Nnena Kalu, Kwaga Sillingi, Lasmin Salmon, Derek Williams, Donald Fasanya, James Heath, Babajide Brian, Immanuel Adelowo, Ibrahim Keelson and Nicky Harris. The installation included painting, textiles, drawing and sculpture, within the heart of Southside Shopping Centre for Wandsworth Arts Fringe.
Vital Mix Live
Alongside the exhibition, ActionSpace artists Linda Bell, Pardip Kapil, James Heath and Claudia Williams led Vital Mix Live, a series of live events in response to the exhibition.
Linda Bell: 12 June
Linda Bell led an interactive workshop live in the Vital Mix installation space. Linda shared her tactile sculptures and participatory practice, exploring movement, space and interaction through the sensory nature of materials.
Pardip Kapil and James Heath: 19 June
Pardip Kapil and James Heath created impromptu performances led by Pardip Kapil and a relaxed artist talk by James Heath. Visitors were invited to join Pardip’s interdisciplinary practice and add to the evolving Vital Mix installation in the artist’s vibrant celebratory style.
Claudia Williams: 22 June
Claudia’s Nice Nice Records, was a new pop-up record shop and live drawing event by Claudia Williams. Guests were invited to browse a collection of artworks from the immense archive of Claudia’s drawings depicting her favourite musicians, including Bob Marley, Dionne Warwick and Al Green. Drawings were then hung up onto the evolving Vital Mix installation to showcase the selected top hits.
Vital Mix and Vital Mix Live continued a partnership with Southside Shopping Centre that stretched back to 2010, covering six years of exhibitions and events. The site was the birthplace of ActionSpace’s live art programme, including the series of events Watch This Space. Look back at our previous live art projects at Southside Shopping Centre.
