ActionSpace artist Thompson Hall joined Sync Leadership’s Syncing Space Malaysia/UK digital residency
What does leadership mean? ActionSpace artist Thompson Hall joined Sync Leadership’s Malaysia / UK collaboration titled Syncing Space. Between February – April 2025, the residency was an accessible online space for four learning disabled and autistic artists: 2 from the UK and 2 from Malaysia, to explore art making, curating and what leadership meant to them. The artists included Charlotte Stephens (Project Artworks, UK), Thompson Hall (ActionSpace, UK), Andi Miranti and Izzati Shahrin from Nakseni, Malaysia.
The digital residency provided opportunities for sharing thinking, experimenting and making new work, as well as taking part in leadership and coaching workshops to share and develop ideas and confidence to do new things. Each week Thompson met the residency artists and reflected upon the project workshops on his weekly project blog.
The programme concluded in early April with a hybrid showcase online and in Kuala Lumpur to mark the beginning of World Autism Month.
The project was supported through a British Council Connections Through Culture grant.
