ActionSpace invited visitors into the spontaneous, alternative world of Pardip Kapil as part of Tate Exchange.
Artist Pardip Kapil combined element of visual arts, installation and set-building to create imaginative evolving environments, which he brought to life with impulsive moments of impromptu performance. Eccentric handmade costumes, props, posters, found objects, projections, sounds and people created multi-layered experiences, which were exciting, unique and unpredictable.
The event focused on themes of celebration and ritual spaces and used artwork in the Tate collection for inspiration to create and explore an immersive, site-specific installations. It also focused on using shared processes and intuitive production as Pardip and his collaborators worked together and invited visitors to explore their own creativity by engaging with Pardip’s unconventional artistic practice.
ActionSpace was a 2018 Tate Exchange Associate.
