Robin Smith: SEND School Workshop

In June 2025, ActionSpace artist Robin Smith led a participatory workshop with students from Paddock School, a specialist school for young people with complex learning needs.

During the session, students worked alongside Robin to co-create a dynamic live painting installation, using bold colours, expressive mark-making, and collaborative techniques. The workshop offered a joyful and empowering creative experience, encouraging each student to explore their individual artistic voice in a supportive environment.

This event was part of ActionSpace’s wider programme of inclusive arts activities in Wandsworth, delivered as part of the London Borough of Culture 2025 celebrations.

Through partnerships like this, we’re proud to bring high-quality, accessible art opportunities into schools and communities, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and inclusion at every stage.

About the artist

Robin Smith is a painter who predominantly creates abstract, reimagined portraits of female figures. Working on canvas, paper and board, Robin combines acrylic, emulsion, and ink with soft pastels to build intense, richly coloured layers. He shifts between creating singular to multiple figure compositions, where subject and background blend through intuitive geometric and organic forms.

Earlier this year, Robin presented a solo exhibition Abstract Worlds at Studio Voltaire for the March edition of our Artist Spotlight programme. More recently, Robin co-led a live painting workshop Vital Mix: Paint Live for Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2025 at Chocolate Films Studio, Nine Elms, London.
