Camden Art Centre presented an exhibition of work produced in collaboration between artists and local SEN schools
20 July – 13 August
Camden Art Centre, Arkwright Road, London, NW3 6DG
Machine? Machine! was an exhibition of work produced by pupils from Swiss Cottage School and The Village School in close collaboration with ActionSpace artist Declan Leslie, Lucie Macgregor and Tom James, the three co-workshop leaders on Camden Art Centre’s SEN schools programme.
The programme combined the artists’ shared desire to reuse materials, subvert technology and experiment alongside the workshop participants’ interests in locomotion, science fiction and deconstruction. Machine? Machine! showcased the unexpected outcomes from a year of experimentation that included dismantling appliances, collaging blueprints, making mechanisms and more.
The project continued ActionSpace’s successful partnership with Camden Art Centre to improve participation and opportunities in visual art for learning disabled artists.
