Inspired by Kilburn, six artists have created new works which have been adapted into large-scale outdoor installations by designer Christianna Mason. From sculpture that mirrors the architecture on the intersection of Kilburn High Road and West End Lane, to richly textured, otherworldly landscapes, discover world class art right in the heart Kilburn.

The Design Collective is a collaborative project between Kiln Theatre, ActionSpace and designer Christianna Mason. The project aims to explore the heritage of Kilburn High Road through visual art, creativity and community engagement. ActionSpace artists produced works in response to Kilburn High Road’s cultural past and present, using objects and images sourced by Christianna Mason as inspiration. Christianna then collaborated with the artists to develop larger scale public works for Kilburn High Road.

The artists are exploring themes including:

  • Local identity and belonging

  • Changing high street culture

  • Hidden histories and untold stories

  • The vibrancy and diversity of the Kilburn community

This collaborative process creates a dialogue between fine art and design, ensuring the work is both artist-led and accessible to the wider public.

The ambition of the project is to explore and celebrate local heritage, animate Kilburn High Road, encourage community pride, and showcase the work of ActionSpace artists.
