Soft, attentive drawings trace the outlines of birds perched along water’s edges, fragments of canal, and shifting reflections caught between colour and line.
Arvindh Ganesh is the newest member of the Monday group at ActionSpace’s Brent studio. His practice centres on close observation of the natural world in his local area, with birds, his favourite subject, appearing again and again throughout his work. These familiar forms act as quiet anchors within scenes that reflect Brent’s ever-changing canalside cityscape.
In his latest work, Arvindh expands beyond drawing into mixed media, allowing his images to move fluidly between representation and abstraction. Buildings, water and foliage dissolve into expressive marks and fields of colour, where line becomes suggestive rather than descriptive. This gentle abstraction gives his work a sense of movement and transience, echoing the rhythms of the environment he observes.

Arvindh’s sensitivity to colour and line is central to his approach. Subtle shifts in tone and delicate layering convey atmosphere as much as place, inviting viewers to slow down and notice small details within the landscape. Recently, he has begun exploring photography as part of his creative process, using it as a tool for looking more closely and as a reference point for his drawings and mixed media works.
Through this evolving practice, Arvindh tenderly captures moments of nature nestled within an urban setting, offering a personal, quietly poetic view of Brent as seen through birds, water and light.
