Dates: 23 February – 31 March 2012
Artwork by Wandsworth Studio Artist Nnena Kalu was selected for Studio Voltaire’s SV12 Members’ Show.
Nnena Kalu is a London based artist who has been working at ActionSpace’s South London studio for over 12 years.
Artist Facilitator Charlotte Hollinshead says, “Nnena works in an obsessive and determined way. She is very versatile and interested in using a wide range of materials, developing a wide range of art works, all with the underlying approach of a systematic layering. Her recent sculptural work enables her to indulge her layering techniques whilst also working more freely, incorporating a number of different materials into the process. Over the last 2 years Nnena has developed a huge number of sculptural pieces, using combinations of paper, fabric and foam. It seems her work has a life of its own, and grows more interesting and sophisticated as it develops.”
Studio Voltaire is one of London’s leading independent contemporary arts organisations. Members include some of the most exciting established and rising stars of the contemporary arts world. Studio Voltaire’s members’ exhibitions aim to showcase the strength and diversity of its membership, which currently comprises over 400 artists. Now in its eighth edition, the exhibition has developed a reputation for spotting emerging talent and bringing it to a wider audience.
