The project – Co-developing Art Technologies for more Inclusive Visual Art Spaces – was built upon Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN) London members calling for the development of knowledge and skills on how to enable equity and inclusion in art spaces and working environments. It aimed to respond to this need of more equitable visual art environments by creating an active and focused working group to examine more deeply the issues arising within arts spaces and working environments from the point of view of neurodivergent artists and arts organisations. The objective was to co-develop art technologies to rebalance the inequalities and remake the visual arts sector fair and equitable. CVAN focused on improving studio environments utilised by neurodivergent participants, as well as opening up access to exhibition spaces. CVAN’s objective was to begin the process for developing art technologies to provide agency to neurodivergent artists.
The project was generously funded by UCL Art Futures AHRC Impact Accelerator Account, and Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants.
