The Lord Mayor’s Show has marched (and floated and trotted, and occasionally fought) through 799 years of London history, surviving the black death and the blitz to arrive in the 21st century as what must be the oldest and grandest civic pageant in the world. The 2014 Show starts early with the river pageant then the Lord Mayor’s procession sets off from Mansion House at 11am.
For this event Action Space partnered with the Royal Academy of Arts – ten of the participants of the RA’s procession will form an art work created by Action Space’s artist Tony Allan. Tony is a regular attendee of the RA’s Access Programme. He was particularly inspired by his visit to this year’s Summer Exhibition and found a resonance with the work of Bob and Roberta Smith. The work he presented as part of the procession focuses on expressing his opinions about art and the art world.
