Jimmy Thorne

Jimmy Thorne’s work features reoccurring themes of fairgrounds and domestic objects. When he animatedly discusses his drawings, he describes them as broken objects. He sometimes emphasises this by sticking his drawings onto broken objects found around the studio. Jimmy has recently been developing a process for evolving his drawings into paintings by applying thick layers of acrylic paint onto the surface and then scratching through the thick paint to reveal his lost drawing. This creates a notion of depth and a sense of time passing within the piece.

Jimmy Thorne is a resident artist at ActionSpace’s Cockpit Arts studio.
