Deborah Lulendo’s love of shopping, music and celebrity culture is reflected in her collage work created with photographs from magazines. Her method involves carefully selecting the right pictures and background colours, using glue and acrylic paint to create striking and bold artwork. The pieces are densely layered, and the original photographs are often obliterated by multiple applications of glue, paint and paper. Deborah’s practice also includes working collaboratively and has shared her practice with visiting artists to make a collection of eclectic hats which were exhibited at the exhibition ‘House of Flying Angel’ at Winns Gallery. Deborah also refers to text from books, comics and magazines to create semi-abstract drawings and paintings in a variety of media.
