Aled Williams

Aled has an inquisitive nature and an eye for detail, which comes through in his drawings of landscapes he has visited and of animals he is fascinated by. He sketches in small notebooks and then works his sketches up into larger scale artworks.

Aled has a natural ability to combine together his love of animals with his playful and insightful humour, often imbuing this cheeky character within each animal he chooses to bring to life. His fine mark making builds the textured tonal variations of each animals feather or fur. The bark of the tree or the grain of the stone being captured with the same focus, depth and intensity.

These are sometimes left as black pen & ink drawings, other times he might explore the image’s depth with colour and tone. Aled is interested in the work of artists such as Henri Matisse and references their work in his pieces whilst maintaining his own unique style.
