Abundance opens in Manchester
Open until 2 April
Longsight Art Space, 89 Northmoor Road, Longsight, Manchester, M12 5RT
Tuesday: 10am – 8pm. Wednesday – Saturday: 10am – 4pm
This March Manchester welcomes the arrival of Abundance, the next stage in the x3 collaboration between ActionSpace, Project Ability and Venture Arts.
Having launched in Glasgow in 2022, Abundance opens at Longsight Art Space in Manchester, before travelling to London later this year. The touring exhibition showcases the work of three artists: Erin Keogh (Project Ability), Chandrakant Patel (ActionSpace) and Kathy Wilmott (Venture Arts), with audio descriptive poetry by Sally Hirst (Venture Arts). All three artists have significant bodies of work, shown for the first time on a larger scale in Abundance, with the aim to connect audiences to the immediacy and energy seen in each artists’ practice.
For the preview event on Thursday 2 March, audio/visual artist Joe Beedles and dancer and choreographer Hannah Buckley presented new performances in response to the work on show. The artists will perform again before the exhibition closes. More details to follow shortly.
About x3
x3 is a collaborative project between ActionSpace, Project Ability and Venture Arts which began in the Covid19 lockdown, as a way of connecting these three organisations and showcasing their artists’ work through digital exhibitions. The first physical exhibition opened at Project Ability in 2022. View the previous x3 digital exhibitions: ‘Electric Dreams‘, ‘Altered Space‘ and ‘Ritual Patterns‘.
About Explorers
The touring exhibition Abundance is part of the Explorers Project. Explorers is led by Project Art Works, in conjunction with eight key partners: ActionSpace, Autograph, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Intoart, MK Gallery, Outside In, Photoworks and Venture Arts. The Explorers Project is supported by Arts Council England and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
