Head of Development & Communications

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join the ActionSpace team as Head of Development & Communications, to ensure that we develop the capacities of our organisation in tandem with our ambition.

In this new, and potentially career-defining role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the direction and scope of the organisation’s income generation, brand, reach and reputation in support of its vision, values and business plan.

We are looking for someone with a strong and successful track record in fundraising and other forms of voluntary income generation, with a proven ability to meet financial targets. You will be adept at building realistic but stretching income plans with a view to longer term growth, whilst working with your team to ensure annual targets are reached.

You will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Business Director, Artistic Director & CEO, and senior colleagues to develop and implement a successful Development strategy that contributes directly to ActionSpace’s business plan and annual financial targets.
  • Building, from the ground up, programmes for regular individual giving, from low value to major gifts.
  • Cultivating new corporate partnerships that align with ActionSpace’s brand, vision and values, and work with your team to ensure good stewardship of these new relationships.
  • Leading on charitable trust fundraising and contribute to the effective management of statutory funding relationships.
  • Develop/oversee ActionSpace’s Communications strategies in conjunction with the Communications Officer, safeguarding the organisation’s brand and reputation, and building routes to greater engagement with wider audiences.

ActionSpace is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive working environment that reflects our vision and values. We therefore welcome applications from as wide a range of backgrounds as possible.

Conditions of Work

Salary: £40,000+ (full time equivalent)
Contract: permanent, subject to a six month probationary period, with a review at two weeks and three months.
Hours: 28 hours per week (based on a standard working week of 35 hours), over 4 or 5 days. Time off in lieu for additional hours.
