Glasgow International Arts: Nnena Kalu

Nnena Kalu

Dates:  19 April – 26 May 2018
Venue:  Project Ability, 103 Trongate, Glasgow G1 5HD
Opening Reception:  Thursday 19 May  (by invitation)

Nnena Kalu has been invited by Project Ability to create a solo exhibition for Glasgow International Arts Festival 2018.

The exhibition, which will be part of the Festival’s prestigious Across the City programme, will see Nnena developing a large scale, site specific sculptural installation in Project Ability’s gallery at 103 Trongate.  There is a chance to view Nnena at work creating from 19-23 April.  The finished piece will remain on display until the 26 May, alongside documentation of the making process.

Nnena Kalu is one of ActionSpace’s premier artists.  She creates large, complex sculptural installations through layering and binding a wide range of materials including yarn, tape, plastic and videotape. The final shape, style and nature of the piece is informed by the rhythmic process of wrapping and binding, the noise and the physical movements she makes.
